Gigi Hadid’s mom, a Real Housewives star, Yolanda Foster, 52, suffers from chronic Lyme disease and she revealed that she wouldn’t be here today if it wasn’t for her model daughter, Gigi Hadid.
Living with Lyme disease is beyond difficult which can be downright devastating for the sufferer. From constant pain to never ending hospital visits, Yolanda has been in the depths of despair on more than one occasion. Her children — especially Gigi Hadid, 20, but also Bella Hadid, 19, and Anwar Hadid, 16, “kept her alive” on multiple occasions, in multiple ways.
On The Dr. Oz Show, which was aired March 1, Yolanda reveled
“There were nights where Gigi, at three o’clock in the morning, had to drive me to the emergency room because I had such severe inflammation in my brain that I’d be balling on the floor like, ‘Please take me to the hospital,’”
“And not just Gigi driving, Anwar and Bella in the back of the car and the three of us going to the hospital,” the former model explained. “And, them being there, they learn to take charge and be my strength.”
Her three children even saved her from acting on suicidal thoughts when she was at her darkest points, which goes to exhibit that they’re her biggest support and source of hope.
Lyme disease is an infection caused by bacteria spread by the bite of an infected deer tick. Symptoms include pain in the muscles or joints, fever, malaise, and chronic fatigue. While no definitive treatment or cure for the illness has been found, there are a number of supporting organizations who are searching for a treatment.
