Hayden Panettiere has checked into a treatment facility to seek treatment for battling postpartum depression following the birth of her first child, Kaya.
Her rep told US Weekly, “Hayden Panettiere is voluntarily seeking professional help at a treatment center as she is currently battling postpartum depression. She asks that the media respect her privacy during this time.”
The Nashville star recently spoke out about postpartum depression and the need for women to realize they aren’t alone in battling it.
“There’s a lot of misunderstanding — there’s a lot of people out there that think that it’s not real, that it’s not true, that it’s something that’s made up in their minds, that ‘Oh, it’s hormones.’ They brush it off. It’s something that’s completely uncontrollable. It’s really painful and it’s really scary and women need a lot of support,” Hayden said in an interview on Live! With Kelly & Michael.
Panettiere’s character, Juliette Barnes, on the hit ABC show Nashville is also suffering from severe postpartum depression.
“Feeling like I’m #finally coming back in to my own body! mother #daughter #blessing #wellworthit,” she tweeted on Saturday, Oct. 10.
