Gigi Hadid really became popular when she slammed her followers who commented on her body type. She shut down those body shamers by responding to them in a way ‘a girl next door’ would. She admitted that just because some people are popular doesn’t make them any above the normal – in the sense that even models have insecurities related to the way the look!
Hadid, 20, just made her debut appearance in the famed Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show – The event filmed last month and aired Tuesday on CBS. Hadid was seen earlier in Taylor Swift’s Bad Blood music video earlier this year; or on Real Housewives of Beverly Hills in which her mother, Dutch former model Yolanda Foster, is a cast member. But more important than her TV appearances or lucrative modeling contracts is the way that Hadid – much like Karlie Kloss, Lily Aldridge and other rising models – has managed to elevate her profile through her strategic use of social media. Hadid has gained millions of online followers for one reason that insists she is really Just Like You – even though she’s a celebrity supermodel.
Hadid’s has a lavish background- which definitely has helped her gain some popularity even before she started working. She likes to work hard on her own, even though her father – Mohamed Hadid is a wealthy real estate dealer. Growing up, she had the most lavish graduation party – which was apparently called ‘little party’ by her mother! Of all the things that Hadid received from her parents, she’s most thankful for this one things called ‘work ethic’! During her speech that she gave at her graduation party, she said:
“One thing I’ve always said about my parents is that they both came from amazing families, but they both definitely had to work their way up for the life that they’ve given me, And obviously, beautiful homes and great opportunities have come with having them as parents. But I think the best thing they’ve given me is their work ethic.”
After high school graduation, Hadid moved to New York, enrolling in college at the New School until she was inundated with modeling opportunities. She’s a Maybelline spokeswoman and walks in all the top fashion shows – but still attempts to keep her personal life free of #branding. Gigi Hadid is also known for her link-ups with the celebrities – her friends, her boyfriends, people who she hangs out with ! The series of famous boyfriends includes Australian pop star Cody Simpson; singer Joe Jonas, or her rumored current flame, ex-One Directioner Zayn Malik.
Apparently, according to what Gigi Hadid’s mother had to say to Us Weekly regarding her her appearance on the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show,
This didn’t just fall into her lap. She missed it twice. This was her third try and she pulled it off and got a spot that millions of beautiful, beautiful women deserve as much as she does. That’s part of the game.
