The vagina may be the most important part of woman’s physiology, but it is one of those organs that are rarely talked about in terms health and hygiene. The vagina deserves a lot more attention than it is given and people only mention it when talking about intercourse. A healthy vagina not only enhances your sex life but also boosts your overall well-being. Therefore, the question is how do you keep it clean, young and healthy?

Wash It Cautiously

It is critical that you keep your vaginal area clean all the time. This is important in keeping away bacteria build up, and it is even more important during menstruation. Although it needs its acidic pH, you must do everything possible to keep it clean. Avoid the conventional soap and water method because it lowers the acidic levels. Even as you clean, you need to do so from the front to the back to avoid introducing more harmful bacteria from the anus.

Take Proper Care after Intercourse

While cleaning your vagina is important, all your efforts are probably futile if you do not take time to clean it after sex. Studies show that bacterial build up is accelerated after sex, and this is the main reason for cleaning it immediately you are done. Furthermore, cleaning also prevents infections and burning sensation and itching. Semen together with the vaginal discharge make the area damp and prone to infections.

Wear Comfortable Clothes

The clothes that you wear on your lower body greatly determine the health of your vagina. Unfortunately, many women are ignorant about that. It is advisable to stock on cotton undergarments since they are comfortable. Apart from just wearing comfortable undergarment, ensure that you change your underwear immediately after exercise. If you are on your period, you should also change it regularly, preferably multiple times a day.

Work It Out

There are exercises that are geared towards keeping your vagina in shape and looking young. Kegels strengthen pelvic muscles and helps with bladder control and achieving a tight vagina. With such exercises, you can also be guaranteed for mind-blowing sex.

Avoid Long Bike Rides

Biking is fun but going for long rides is not good for your vagina. The constant friction of the crotch area can pull and even stretch your labia. The friction also raises the temperature and can make the vaginal area damp which is the perfect environment for bacteria to thrive.

See a Gynecologist Regularly

Seeing a gynecologist is a personal choice but it is an important step when it comes to keeping your vagina healthy. Do not wait for an emergency to go rushing to your gynecologist. Instead, make it a habit to visit him or her for internal check-up every year to help you identify any infections and also keep your vagina healthy.

Maintain a Healthy Diet

Eating a balanced diet is essential for the body and your vagina also benefits from it. A diet that is rich in fluids keeps your vaginal and reproductive health in check. In fact, there are foods that are known to prevent yeast infections and also help in treatment such as cranberry juice. For women who encounter vaginal dryness, soy products are effective in the production of natural lubrication.

It essential for every woman to keep her vagina clean. This will not just boost her confidence in the bedroom but also help her avoid all sorts of health complications and infections. Therefore, live by the above guidelines, and you will have a healthy and young vagina to be proud of.
