Liv Tyler: Actress Says Her Father Steven Tyler Cut Her Son’s Umbilical Cord in the Delivery Room
“We don’t always see him that often, but when we do, it’s like this magical wizard comes to the house,”
Tyler said on “Jimmy Kimmel Live” about her father who was present for the birth of Sailor Gene.
On Dec 2nd, Liv appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live to talk about the epic season finale of her show, The Leftovers, but the conversation soon turned to her father, Steven Tyler’s drop-in. In February of 2015, actress Liv Tyler gave birth to her son, Sailor Gene, who decided to show up six weeks early for his own due date.
Since the baby was six weeks early, Liv’s fiance, sports agent Dave Gardner, was traveling for work and unreachable when Liv went into early labor. Liv called her sister, Mia Tyler, who called their father immediately, who dashed across the country to be with Liv while she was in labor.

According to Liv,
“he just like walked out of his house, he was in Nashville, and I didn’t exactly know that, and then he kind of walked in just before everything happened.”
“It was crazy because I never in a million years thought I would give birth with my dad and my sister there, it was actually very sweet because we were laughing a lot,”
she told Jimmy.
