Love Your Lines Instagram Campaign Celebrates Beauty Of Stretch Marks!

Stretch marks? it’s normal for most of us mommies (even Chrissy Teigen!), so why do we still see them as “flaws?”

 

A social media campaign called Love Your Lines, which specifically spotlights stretch marks, has set out to challenge the stigma surrounding them by way of gorgeous, black-and-white portraits submitted by users on Instagram and Tumblr.

 

“I have stretch marks. Lots of stretch marks. They run along my belly, my hips, my inner and outer thighs, my inner arms, and my chest. No, they are not from having children. Yes, they are from the many years of going up and down in weight. I first started seeing these beauties around the age of 12 on my chest. At first I could hide them in a bathing suit. But as my weight reached 220 lbs, I noticed these pink-ish lines forming along my belly and thighs/butt and it was very hard to accept how my skin was because of how I decided to treat my body/health. As I lose weight once again (and for GOOD!), I look at these lines and I am reminded of my journey. I am reminded of the mean things I said about my body and the carelessness in how I treated my health. But in the same breath, I am reminded that this is my skin. I am human. I am strong. I am no longer 220 lbs. I am no longer my depression. I am no longer treating my health & body like it’s not the only life I have to live. I respect my body. I respect what I feed my health. I am mindful of what I feed my mental health & self-esteem. I love these stretch marks! And as uniquely as they are formed on my curves, I love the stories they tell.
