Tim and Kallie Berger decide to get plastic surgery for their 6-year-old Gage Berger, who was being relentlessly picked on by classmates because his ears stuck out too much.
The taunting was so harsh on Gage, that it was damaging his self-esteem. He constantly heard from the other kids “That I look like an elf. And I have weird ears.”, that’s what he says in the video.

So, the parents started researching on their options and after considering the long-term consequences of either getting the surgery or avoiding it and they came to a decision to get ear-pinning done. Now, plastic surgery for a first-grader is a big deal, but ear-pinning is a comparatively simple procedure that would take only about two hours in surgery and a couple of days of recovery. It may or may not be the right choice for every child Bergers feel they made the right one.
Yes, plastic surgery for a 6 year old for some of you parents may be considered ‘going to far’. However, weighing out pros and cons on situation and child’s future happiness is important. And bullying may negatively impact a child’s self-esteem and may affect his social character.
