Last week, an 8-year-old girl named Kylie from Sicklerville, New Jersey, was suspended from school for violating the dress code. The offense was wearing the wrong shade of green.
Yes, this just doesn’t make any sense! Kylie is an elementary student at Winslow Township School #4, a public school in New Jersey, where a recently implemented dress code has landed the little girl in a soup. The dress code allows for white, navy blue and dark green polo shirts, and Kylie found out the hard way that adherence to these guidelines is serious business.
A video by Fox29 shows that according to Kylie’s mother, she was initially told by the principal that if Kylie showed up to school in the wrong color shirt again, she’d be facing a suspension. However, the next day, when the mother brought Kylie and her twin, Karlie, to school, appropriately dressed up in navy blue jumpers — she was asked to take Kylie home. The mother decided to pull both girls for the day.

In the picture above you can see Kylie holding a light green color T-shirt she wore to school and got suspended, the recommended green color is a couple shades darker which is held by Karlie, her twin sister. It’s insane to think about as to how wearing the light green colored T-shirt got Kylie a one-day suspension, this is way out of order.
When you’re this young, you hardly have any control over what you wear. How is this even a big mistake by Kylie, that she deserved suspension? It might be against the rules, but it’s Kylie’s mother who bought the shirt, even though Kylie was punished for wearing it. In the back-to-school rush, it’s hard enough to find a three-brad folder in the precise color of blue that a teacher requests.
